Groups

A FlexDeploy Group represents a set of global permissions defining the authority its users have. All users having membership to the group inherit its permissions. The FlexDeploy installation creates an administration group (FD Administrators), which is assigned to initial administrator user name created during registration. This group is granted full administrative privileges and is the only group which has access to create/edit groups and users.

Before creating any groups, it is recommended to spend the time to determine the granularity of roles required by your company so you will have the appropriate security in place when you begin onboarding users.

Searching Groups

Select Security -> Groups from the menu.

By default, all groups are displayed in the search results. To refine the search results, click the filter icon on a column. You can click column names to sort. The usual saved query support is available as well.

Creating Groups

Select Security -> Groups from the menu.

To create a new group click the 1)Create button or copy an existing group by clicking the 2)actions icon in an existing group’s row and choosing Copy.

Creating a group will open a new page where you can enter the required Group details as described in the table below, along with adding/removing members of the group.

Group members cannot be deleted if they were mapped automatically from an external realm like AD (Active Directory). An example is marked with the number 1 when hovering the delete icon. The icon, marked by the number 2, shows if the user was mapped to this group automatically from an external realm or locally. Also keep in mind, users are not allowed to delete themselves from a group they are in.

Selecting the + Add Members button will open a popup where you can add new users, and selecting the delete icon on a user row will remove the user from the group. Select the save button on the bottom to finalize all changes.
