Target Endpoints and Properties
Topology details are stored at the Target level. Each target needs one or more endpoints to run executions on, and most targets need some property values assigned so that FlexDeploy knows how to find software locations, and how to login to the necessary applications.
Navigating to Target Endpoints and Properties
The screen to maintain this information is located inside the Target Groups screen. To access it, go to Topology in the menu.
You will arrive on the Target Groups page. There are 2 ways to view Targets from the Target Groups Page.
Select a Target Group row by clicking on it. This will open a list of Environments on the right. From there, click on the Environment on the right to view or modify the Target.
@Since 8.0.0.1 - The other option is to click the status icon under an Environment name in a Target Group row.
Status Icons:
- Target fully configured. At least 1 endpoint is associated and all required properties configured.
- Target partially configured. At least 1 endpoint is associated but some required properties not configured.
- Target not configured. No endpoints associated.
Maintaining Target Endpoints
The top half of the Targets page shows the endpoints currently mapped to the current target, and the resource types that are selected for them.
See the EndPoints page for info on how endpoints work and are configured.
Map a new endpoint. This drop down allows choosing a new endpoint or existing endpoint and associating it to this target.
Resource Types allow you to define certain characteristics of each endpoint. Some plugin operations only execute on certain types of endpoints, and workflow steps also have the option of setting only certain resource types to execute on. This is useful for complicated deployments such as Weblogic or EBS.
You can remove an endpoint from a target.
Maintaining Target Properties
The bottom half of the screen allows you to manage the property values for the target. If a property you were expecting to fill in is not present, configure and activate your workflow and a project first and then come back to this screen, or see Manually Assigning Target Group Workflows and Plugins for more information.
Filter to quickly find the property you want to change the value of.
Set the property’s value.
If you want to use a Groovy script to dynamically set the value, click the { } button. See Working with Groovy for more information.
The reset button allows you to reset all changes that you made since the page was last saved.
Save by scrolling down and clicking save or pressing CTRL + s.
Changing to Another Environment
When first setting up topology, or when modifying a property that must be set in all environments, you may find it easier to use the drop down in the top left to quickly switch between environments for your current target group. You will be asked if you want to save your changes if there are any. You can use the browser back button or click the Targets tab in the top left to exit the Target Endpoints and Properties screen.
