FlexDeploy Folders provide organization and shared configuration for Projects.

A Folder is a container for organizing FlexDeploy projects. A Folder also provides a construct for identifying characteristics that apply to all sub-folders contained within it (e.g. security, approvals, notifications, and windows).

FlexDeploy comes pre-configured with a single root folder called FlexDeploy. Folders and projects are created inside of the FlexDeploy root folder.

Creating a Folder

To create a new folder 1️⃣ click the New Folder Icon or click the options menu of a Folder and select New Folder.

A Folder cannot contain both Projects and Folders. As a result you may only see options for New Project or New Folder in the options menu.

2️⃣ Popuplate the folder popup with the desired Parent Folder and Folder Name and click Save.

Multiple Folders

You can create multiple folders at once by separating the Folder Name with a /. The example above Doc Folder/Nested Doc Folder will create two new folders:

  1. FlexDeploy/Joel/Doc Folder

  2. FlexDeploy/Joel/Doc Folder/Nested Doc Folder

Editing a Folder

To edit a folder, 1️⃣ ensure the folder you want to edit is selected in the tree and 2️⃣ click the Manage Folder button.

Doing so will display several tabs, the first being General, where you can edit basic Folder information like the name and parent folder.

For information on managing the additional configuration on the subsequent tabs see Managing Folder Configuration.

Managing Folder Configuration

Folders do more than just organizing Projects. Each Folder in the Folder tree can define configuration that applies to each of each “children” in the tree. The simplest example is adding a notification to the root FlexDeploy folder.

With that in place, each child folder automatically “inherits” that notification. We can see this by selecting a child folder and view the Notifications.

In the above example we can see Folder 0JIRA is inheriting a Notification from the FlexDeploy root folder.

Overriding Folder Configuration

In the case where a Folder wants to define its own configuration or maybe just remove the inherited configuration altogether, click the Override toggle on the Folder.

At this point we can add/delete/edit any configuration as needed.

Overriding Configuration

Once a folder is Overriding configuration - all children will inherit this new overridden configuration.

Additional Folder Configuration

All of the below configurations follow the same principle outlined above:

  • No labels
